about me
Nandini Hawley, grew up in Sri Lanka, lived and worked in the USA and has now made Hong Kong her home for the past 20 years.
She was drawn to painting when she moved to Hong Kong by her fondness of design and color, finding she had an innate passion and knack for it.
Her first foray was when she started painting with Stephen Thomas at his Hong Kong studio and working with water colors. She loved the nature of it – it’s flow and ease to exact precision. She then moved onto Acrylic painting with invaluable guidance from acclaimed artist Cindy Rhee. She loved creating with it, as it opened up new creative dynamism for how fast it dries as well as the ease with which one could change a perspective! She has also explored with pen and ink, pencil, pastels and oil.
Being from Asia and having lived there for many years, her works often contain Asian themes, nuances and distinct color!
She has exhibited, donated and sold at Art shows, both in the USA and Hong Kong. In addition, she has also enjoyed producing pieces for private commissions. Her art is evolving and gratifying as it resonates within herself and with others!
